McCracken is backen
Today, all’s well that ends well in the preservation of editorial independence. Harry McCracken has been reinstated to his position as editor-in-chief of PC World (and given a VP title along with it), while (former) CEO Colin Crawford, instigator of the situation that found Harry ousted, has been busted down to EVP. Talking with Harry via email, he mentioned, “IDG has been absolutely magnificent throughout this, and I know, even more than I did before all this happened, that it’s the kind of company that will back editors up and let us do our thing. It’s great to be back.” Truth be told, it’s a big win for him and PC World, but a far bigger win for the collective of writers, editors, and publishers who fight daily to keep their editorial independent.
