5,000 posts later
Today is a strange kind of milestone for me, one I actually thought I’d probably never reach: my 5,000th post went live on Engadget. It’s an interface walkthrough of the OLPC Sugar UI — something I’ve really been itching to play around with for a good two years now, so it’s a pretty satisfying 5k. (For reference, my first published post: boutique-crafted cryogenically frozen cables.)
It’s really difficult for me to properly describe the immense sense of gratitude I have for every person that reads and supports Engadget, that shows up to the reader events, enters our contests, or just somehow manages to make this job really worth it day in and day out. Engadget’s not without its fair share of drudgery, but these rabid enthusiasts are not only why I have the inconceivably amazing privilege of writing about tech for a living, their insatiable appetite is what’s driven me to press on through rough patches. And don’t even get me started about the unbelievable team who keep Engadget alive day in and day out.
Of course, none of it ever would have happened if my old friend Peter hadn’t tricked convinced me to try my hand at technology writing back in the halcyon summer of 2004. So thanks to you, Pete, as well as the rest of the crew at Engadget, and every reader who came, saw, and challenged the status quo of tech journo with us. Can’t wait to bang out the next 5,000!
Update: Ha! Jeremy Toeman did a profile to commemorate!

Wow… That is pretty unbelievable. Congratulations, I’m sure I’m not alone when I say you have had a hand in bringing professionalism to tech blogging!
